Hi all! In connection with the recent exit Resident Evil 0: HD Remaster I decided to recall one undeservedly forgotten character of the series – a medic Rebecca Chambers. And although this heroine appeared only at the very beginning of the story about Ambrella, viruses and bio-terrorism, she managed to make her contribution to this very story and fall in love with players. Rebecca status is currently in question, and today I will analyze all theories regarding the fate of the girl after the events of the first game and, of course, I will tell you a lot of interesting things about this heroine. Pleasant viewing or reading! 🙂
Rebecca’s debut took place in the original Resident Evil 1996. At the time of the events of the game, that is, in July 1998, the girl was only 18, and she had already completed her studies at college, which is quite unusual: the average Americans were only graduating from school by this age. The speed with which our heroine managed to get an education indicates that she is smart, responsible and able to cope with large volumes of information for years.
And although Rebecca is the youngest member of the detachment s.T.A.R.S., and one of the youngest heroines of the series, in principle, this did not prevent the girl from showing her ingenuity and skills received when learning to a doctor.
Returning to the plot of the game, Rebecca meets in his adventure in the mansion Chris Radfield. He, as part of the Alpha detachment, sent him to investigate the disappearance of the Bravo detachment, in which our heroine consisted. After 8 years, in 2002, the same events were retold in Resident Evil Remake.
The appearance of a medical girl during the plot of the original game and remake often depend on the player’s actions, and in a pair of seats, management can come for a short time to switch to her. For example, if a snake poison the snake in the attic, Rebecca should get an antidote. Among other things, the girl can die, but Chris still saves her according to the canon, and she remains the only Bravo surviving from the detachment.
But we will be postponed a day earlier, on July 23, 1998. It is then that the game takes place Resident Evil Zero, where our Rebecca is no longer a secondary, but a key role. Prolet tells the story of the first combat mission of the girl. And frankly, it, like the first as a day in the service of Leon Kennedy, did not set from the very beginning. The accident of the helicopter, a train with a bunch of walking dead, a meeting with a escaped prisoner who, fortunately, was not as terrible as she thought – this and much more had to endure a fragile and weak Rebecca, which, unlike Jill Valentine, was not even a professional police officer.
As a result, the young physician overcomes all the trials that fell on her girlish shoulders, and getting out of one mansion, falls into another, where Chris already finds her.
Both of these stories were retold in a rail shooter Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Plus, in the game a script called “Nightmare” was added, which connected the zero and first part among themselves and showed that Rebecca was doing in the mansion before the appearance of the alpha detachment – namely, fought with a giant snake and saved her colleague Richard.
Now I would like https://guazubetcasino.co.uk/bonus/ to move a little from game events and talk about the appearance and image of the girl.
In one of the relatively recent interviews, the creator of the series, Shinji Mikami (Shinji mikami), admitted that Rebecca is his most unloved female character in his own games. Compared to the rest of the main characters of the franchise, she is humble and dependent. If his will, he himself would not include such a character in the game, but others insisted on this, and did not lose. Say, in Japan, Rebecca is very popular precisely because of its meekness and pretty. The mentality of the Japanese affects – most of them prefer just such women.
And since it was about the country of the rising sun, I will add that the appearance of Rebecca in RE0 was created in the image and likeness of the Japanese pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki (Ayumi Hamasaki).
Rebecca did not appear in the adaptations of Paul Anderson (possibly for the better), but she still had a real embodiment – in the entrance and final rollers of the first part she played her Lynn Harris (Lynn Harris), who, by the way, voiced the girl herself, and was the sound engineer of the whole game, guiding the rest of the actors.
Returning to the fate of Rebecca after salvation from the Spencer mansion, then everything is not so unambiguous with her, since it is not said about the girl about the girl about the girl. However, I will try to dispel the whole fog to the heroine as much as possible.
Some people say that there was no “salvation” in general. And since Barry survived (we know this by subsequent games), then the ending of Jill, where there is no girl-medical, is a canon. But in fact it is not so.
The canonical is the ending of the Resident Evil, which plays players, when all four characters (well, five, counting the pilot) are saved by helicopter.
In the version of the game for Nintendo 64 in the police station, you can find Rebecca’s report on events on July 24 and 23. The file lies right on the girl’s table, but only in the “B” script, and is a sort of link between the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Zero, which was developed exclusively for N64 at that time.
The Rebbek report signed as a member of the alpha detachment, although, as you know, it was in the Bravo detachment. Perhaps remaining the only surviving from her team, the girl after the events of the first game was transferred to another.
Well, in the end, a photograph of saved members s.T.A.R.S. was in the initial video of the prototype Resident Evil 3.
By the way, about photographs, in the Resident Evil 2, if you search the Wizker table about 50 times, you can find a film with the signature "Rightness",
So, our heroine clearly got out of the mansion alive. But what happened next? We know that on all members s.T.A.R.S. Nemesis hunted, and a fragile girl theoretically could become his victim. The argument in favor of Rebecca died, there may be the absence of her epilogue in the third resident. Having passed the game 8 times, the player will find out what happened to all the significant characters of three games – with Jill, Chris, Barry, Leon, Claire, Sherry, Ada and Hankom.
It would seem that there is no epilogue – it means that there is no status "alive". But again, not so simple. Rebecca is not described at the end of the third part only because the scriptwriter Yasukhis Kavamura (Yasuhisa kawamura) was not given permission for this case. At that time, as I said, the “zero” part was actively developed, and it was planned that the further fate of Rebecca would be told in it.
Thus, not one of the arguments for the fact that the Medical girl is dead, does not withstand criticism. In the end, the characters of films, TV shows and games do not die just like that, behind the scenes. Usually their death is shown on the screen. Therefore, I think, everything is in order with Rebecca, she could, say, resign after the events of the first game or just escape from the city.
In addition, in the new parts of the series there was a tendency for the revival of old heroes: in Revelations 2 They remembered Barry, who after the original game appeared only at the end of the 3rd part, in Resident Evil 6 was Sherri Birkin – one of the secondary characters Resident Evil 2. So, I’m sure, we still have a chance to see Rebecca in games.
As for the non-IGR, it is certainly known that Rebecca, together with Leon and Chris, is declared as one of the main characters of the upcoming full-length CG franchise. It is planned to be released in 2017, and its working name- Biohazard CG 3 (Resident Evil CG 3). Nothing more about the film is not known. While the world has been demonstrated only by concept art, based on which it can be assumed that history or part will develop in the next isolated mansion.
In the theater production Biohazard: The Stage, which is only in Japan, Rebecca is also all right, she joined the BSAA and participated in a pair of missions.
As you can see, rumors about Rebecca’s death are somewhat exaggerated. Let now not hear anything new about her, I’m sure this is a temporary phenomenon. And, perhaps, by releasing the rendered Zero, Capcom prepares the ground for the full return of the girl to the game series. Well, we just have to wait for the announcements ..
